More cool news from the Sony camp. The new VAIO Z and VAIO Y Series laptops will come with Sony’s embedded wireless technology called Share My Connection™ (SMC). SMC lets you turn a laptop into a mobile wireless access point that can connect up to five other PCs or networked devices.

If you’re not familiar with it, the VAIO Z is a killer 13” premium PC. It weighs about 3lbs and comes with the option to include some pretty mind-boggling specs, like a 1600 x 900 resolution display (better than many 15” and 17” notebooks!), Blu-Ray, Windows 7 Ultimate up to 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of SSD storage.

The brand new Y series is a more mainstream 13” machine that comes in a range of colors – similar to the E Series I reviewed – such as black, pear green, blue teal, fuchsia pink and purple violet. Its only an inch thick starts at a very reasonable $770.
