There is more choice than ever when it comes to browsers today. This is a fantastic thing and we believe that choice makes the web better for all of us.

We build IE for customers who use Windows. IE9 is the browser designed to give Windows 7 customers the fastest, safest, and most private browsing experience – putting the focus on the thing that matters most – your favorite sites.

If you haven’t had a look at IE recently and are ready for change, here are some reasons we think IE9 might be the browser for you.

Last month, we talked about how IE9 had surpassed IE8 as the number one browser on Windows 7 worldwide.  This month that trend continues with IE9 growing worldwide on Windows 7.  New HTML5 experiences like Cut the Rope continue to show consumers what they can expect from a modern browser like IE9 - while developers have an HTML5 platform with IE9 that supports these rich, fluid experiences.

Back in October I did a blog post on Security Compliance Manager 2. We are now excited to share that the latest version 2.5 is now available for beta download!

10 years ago this week, Bill Gates sent this Trustworthy Computing (TwC) memo to all employees. The memo called for the company to rethink its approach to products – putting security at the forefront. To capture the journey we’ve made in Trustworthy Computing over the last 10 years – the Trustworthy Computing (or TwC) Team has created this infographic on Microsoft News Center I recommend checking out.

Time to pop open the champagne because, based on the latest data from Net Applications, IE6 usage in the US has now officially dropped below 1%!

This has been a great year for Internet Explorer. For those of us on the IE team we are extremely thankful for the opportunity to work on such a great product with such a fantastic team. We are also incredibly thankful for the opportunity we had to give back to children in need this holiday season by partnering with the Starlight Children’s Foundation.

For many people, going home for the holidays is a step back in time. Not just because you may be returning to your childhood home, but because you might see IE6 or IE7 on your parents’ home PC.

Since the launch of Internet Explorer 9 last March, we’ve been excited to see the product get some of the best reviews Internet Explorer has ever seen.

On Friday, we mentioned that things were looking up for developers interested in building the latest set of web experiences for a modern browser like IE9. The good news for developers is that with IE9 at almost 35% share on Windows 7 in the US near the close of October - now 65% of all Windows 7 users in the US have a modern browser!
