400 Million Windows 7 Licenses Sold

Today during the Day 1 keynote of our annual Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference, Steve Ballmer revealed that Windows 7 has officially sold 400 million licenses to-date. Our previous statement of 7 copies of Windows 7 sold a second continues to hold true. We continue to see excellent momentum for Windows 7 as well as Internet Explorer 9. According to Net Applications as of June 2011, Windows 7 is now running on 27.13% of all PCs worldwide.

IE 10 PP2 now available for download – HTML5 nears tipping point

Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview 2 is now available for download and continues Microsoft’s commitment to interoperability with site ready HTML5, improved performance, and increased security. AMD Unveils A-Series APUs

AMD’s Fusion Developer Summit is taking place this week in Bellevue, WA and AMD is taking the opportunity to launch their high-end series of APUs (Accelerated Processing Units). If you recall – an APU is the combination of the CPU and GPU into a single die. AMD’s Fusion family of APU processors is a combination of multi-core CPU (x86) technology with discrete-level graphics.

I am very excited to announce the release of the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit 2012 Beta 1. For those of you who saw me at TechEd or on the Springboard Series Tour demonstrate the power of MDT, you know that this is a great tool and in this newest release, we have made it even better. I upgraded to the new version today and I have to say it was a very smooth upgrade to move from MDT 2010 to the new MDT 2012 Beta 1.

It’s important to note that we have not seen widespread attacks related to this specific case. However we take security very seriously and to ensure customers are protected, we are working on an update to Internet Explorer.
