How-to: Restore SkyDrive files missing from the Office Hub

If you woke up this morning, checked your phone’s Office Hub, and didn’t see some of your OneNote notebooks or Office docs—don’t panic. As the Windows Live team explained on its blog yesterday, a recent SkyDrive upgrade is causing some Windows Phone owners to see a message saying their Office documents were deleted from the SkyDrive servers or can’t be downloaded.

I wanted to address an issue related to the SkyDrive release yesterday. For any of you who are using a Windows Phone, you may have noticed that if you had previously used the Office hub to view any of your OneNote notebooks or Office documents, you may have received a message that the items were deleted from the server, or could not be downloaded.

For one member of the winning Software Design team, his solution not only stands to change the world, but to also affect his day-to-day life. David Hayden, the team captain from Arizona State University, was born legally blind. He used his first-hand experience struggling to see the teacher and take notes simultaneously as inspiration to create Note-Taker.

Office Web Apps in Hotmail & SkyDrive available everywhere

Office Web Apps are now available to anyone using Hotmail or SkyDrive in Central and South America. This extends the service to people in 18 more countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
