Commercial release of Kinect for Windows hits Feb. 1st

Administrator's picture

The sales for Kinect for the Xbox 360 have been amazing with 18 million sold this last year. The end result has been countless hours of incredible fun with family and friends dancing and playing sports in the confines of their living rooms. Kinect has also opened the door for developers and businesses to create new and innovative experiences through natural user interface (NUI) on the PC. The explosion of imaginative ideas that can be done with Kinect is something we call the Kinect Effect.

Updates: delivering to Telefonica, scheduling Deutsche Telekom

Administrator's picture

Hello everyone. Yesterday we began delivering the Windows Phone 7.5 update to LG Optimus 7 phones on Telefonica in Spain.  We’re also now scheduling it for Samsung Omnia 7 phones on Deutsche Telekom.

In addition, we’re now delivering Mango to 100 percent of eligible phones around the world, regardless of carrier. (In other words, to everything that’s not listed as “scheduling” or “testing” on Where’s My Phone Update?).

América del Sur, aquí vengo!

Over the past few years I have been very fortunate to meet so many of you face to face during my travels with the Springboard Series Tours. I have spent time in Finland and Rome talking MDT, ACT and MAP, London and Barcelona discussing AppCompat, and even sharing with you twenty Windows tools you did not know existed in Chicago, Boston and Toronto. Yet, I am constantly asked, when will I come to South America? I am very proud to announce that next month, I will do exactly that.

So where will I be and how can you attend?

Updates: Windows Phone 7.5 now available more broadly

Administrator's picture

Hello everyone. When we kicked off the global rollout of Windows Phone 7.5, I told you we planned to balance quality with speed. And for three weeks we’ve been watching quality while sending update notices to a growing fraction of phones.

It’s gone well. So today we’re fully opening the spigot —slightly ahead of schedule—and making Mango available to nearly everyone in the current delivery pool (see Where’s My Phone Update? for the details).

HTC unveils their new global lineup of Windows Phones

Administrator's picture

HTC just unveiled two new Windows Phones that will be landing in stores around the world later this year, running our latest version of Windows Phone. A lot of people ask me via Twitter “what phone are you using now”. I’m delighted to say in rotating through various phones and helping our partners finish them with high quality, I’ve spent quite a bit of time carrying one of the prototypes of these HTC phones and it’s terrific. For those of you who haven’t read the press details—here’s a quick recap.

Today we’re releasing the next version of the Zune software. As one of the Zune program managers, I wanted to provide a brief look at what’s new in the 4.8 release, which you can download here. To update your current version, click Settings > Software > General, and then click Check For Updates.

Updates: Now delivering to Telefonica

Administrator's picture

Ole! We’re now delivering all available Windows Phone updates—7008, 7390, and 7392—to customers with Telefonica in Spain. Update Central tells you what’s in each one and how to install them.

As I noted on Friday, we’re also now scheduling the restart of 7390 and 7392 for Omnia 7 handsets on Orange. As soon as these resume, Eric or I will let you know.

Updates: Telefonica now being scheduled for updates

Administrator's picture

Testing is done at Telefonica in Spain for all three updates: 7008, 7390, and 7392. The team is now scheduling the rollout. As soon as the update is available for download, we’ll let you know.

I know Omnia 7 owners on Orange are anxious for word about updates. My post was a little bit later than normal this week because we felt oh-so-close to having definitive scheduling news. Mike will pop on the thread the moment we start scheduling. We know you want this news quickly.
